MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
Super
Bowl XXVIII is over and the Denver Broncos and Hank Sienzant are repeat
ISFL Champions. Congratulations to Hank on putting together such a solid
team and on having a great season. Also want to give congrats to Dean
Engemoen who also built a heck of a team and just came up short in the
final game of the season. The season is almost complete, I have sent out
awards (also below) and the lottery is done (also below). I am working
on the ballot which will be out hopefully tomorrow night and then we
will finish up the season. We have two new owners who were announced to
the league and there information is below. Thanks guys, look for a final
newsletter next weekend after the props ballot is complete.
Taking over the LA Chargers is Stewart Tucker. He can be reached at
stutucker68@gmail.com and I
will update the website with info tomorrow.

Awards 2024
ISFL
MVP - Christian McCaffrey, Chicago Bears
McCaffrey wins a fairly close vote by being on 13 total ballots and
gaining 3 first place votes, while Tyreek Hill was a close second with 4
first place votes. Brock Purdy finished 3rd with 3 first place votes and
4 others also received first place votes including Lama Jackson, Jared
Goff, Baker Mayfield and Justin Herbert.
Another close vote that Dean wins by being on a couple more ballots than
Ed Minshull who finished second while both had 4 first place votes.
Daniele Miozzi, Mark McNeil, Hank Sienzant and Tim Strain all had a pair
of first place votes while John Burns and Joe Richardson each had a
single first place vote.
Dean
repeats as GM of the year after putting together a huge group of talent
that came so close to finishing a near perfect season and gets 5 first
place votes. Hank Sienzant finishes second with 3 first place votes and
Tim Strain finished 3rd with a single top vote. Daniele Miozzi, Shan Wu
and Joe Richardson each had a pair of first place votes while Ed
Minshull and Nino Valentino both had a single top vote.
McCaffrey wins this one by a single first place vote over Lamar Jackson,
6 to 5, while Baker Mayfield finished in third place with 3 first place
votes. Justin Herbert had a pair of first place votes while Patrick
Mahomes, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa all get a single top nod.
This
one was not even a contest as Watt gets 12 first place votes and is on
15 total ballots. Myles Garrett finished a very distant second with 1
first place vote and Kyle Hamilton was third, also with just one top
vote. Fred Warner had 2 first place votes while Justin Simmons, Khalil
Mack and Roquan Smith all get a single first place vote.
Tyreek repeats as the top NFC player with 7 first place votes to edge
out Brock Purdy who had 5 first place votes. Jared Goff was third with 3
first place votes and Stefon Diggs, Mac Jones, Russell Wilson and Travis
Kelce all had a single first place nod.
When
you lead the league in INTs in your second season in the league, you
have a great shot at winning this award and Bland gets 4 first place
votes to edge out Jess Bates who had 3 first place votes. Micah Parsons
finishes third with a pair of first place votes and Aidan Hutchinson
also had 2 to finish 4th. The rest of the votes were spread out to a
whole bunch of guys.
A
fairly close vote that Nacua wins with 8 first place votes despite CJ
Stroud having 9 first place votes but not hitting enough ballots to keep
up. Sam LaPorta finishes a distant third with one first place vote and
Jordan Addison gets the only other first place vote.
Jalen
Carter just beats out Will Anderson for this award with 8 first place
votes to just 5 for Anderson. Devon Witherspoon finishes third with a
single first place vote while Kobie Turner has a pair of first place
votes and Brian Branch, Christian Gonzalez and Keeanu Benton all have a
single first place vote.
The
draft lottery is complete and results are below.
So
the original order based upon the non playoff teams records and opp win
pct for tiebreakers is:
Please make sure to get started on game contacts asap and don’t forget
to CC me on all of them so I can make sure games are getting set up
smoothly. If you need a sub, feel free to find your own sub or contact
me asap so we can try and get you hooked up with someone to get your
game in. Make sure you have
the latest action update which is available on the website.
Game files are up for Wild Card Weekend, so make sure you go
download them and start making contact for the wild card games. If you
have any questions, now is the time, so please ask before we get too far
into things.
I
can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game
export when the game is complete.
Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the
game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to
keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after
each game. The home team is
responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get
done. Also, you MUST send me
the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down
for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to
guess whether a game has happened or not.

News from Around the League
Super Bowl XXVIII
Denver Does It Again!
Broncos Claim Back-to-Back Super Bowls, 44-27
Dallas, TX, February 9th, 2025:
The defining moment of Super Bowl XXVIII came early in the first quarter
when Tua Tagovailoa, orchestrating the Denver offense with surgical
precision, connected with wideout Alec Pierce on a spectacular 73-yard
touchdown strike. This electrifying play gave the defending champion
Broncos a 7-0 lead and set the tone for a commanding 44-27 victory over
the New York Giants at Cowboys Stadium, in a game the Broncos never
trailed.
The Broncos' defense quickly added to the lead when linebacker Tremaine
Edmunds intercepted a Brock Purdy pass and returned it 21 yards for a
touchdown, pushing the advantage to 14-0. The defensive score began a
long afternoon for the Giants' young quarterback. Edmunds, who finished
the regular season with seven interceptions and returned two for scores,
saved his best for last.
Denver's offensive juggernaut continued to roll early in the second
quarter when Tagovailoa found Wan'Dale Robinson for a 10-yard touchdown
pass to complete a five-play, 35-yard drive. That score was set up by
Purdy's lost fumble after a sack by Derrick Brown, with Brandon Stephens
recovering at the Giants 35. The score extended the Broncos' lead to
21-0, and the defending champions appeared poised for a rout.
The Giants showed signs of life midway through the second quarter when
Purdy connected with Drake London on a 20-yard touchdown pass, capping a
six-play, 64-yard drive. The score cut the deficit to 21-7 and gave New
York a glimmer of hope.
Denver responded before halftime with a methodical 14-play, 61-yard
drive culminating in a 30-yard McPherson field goal with 25 seconds left
in the half, pushing their lead to 24-7 at the break. The drive
showcased the Broncos' ability to switch from quick strike to ball
control, maintain possession, and grind the clock as needed.
The third quarter opened with Denver extending its lead further when
McPherson connected on a 37-yard field goal, completing an eight-play,
56-yard drive. The score pushed the advantage to 27-7 and seemed to dash
any hopes of a Giants comeback.
But New York put together a sustained drive midway through the third
quarter, moving 67 yards in 13 plays before settling for a 26-yard
Butker field goal. The drive reduced the deficit to 27-10 but consumed
valuable time off the clock, leaving only 20 minutes remaining.
After a Bronco punt, the Giants showed renewed fight when Purdy found
DeVonta Smith for a 12-yard touchdown pass, finishing a 13-play, 86-yard
drive that cut the lead to 27-17, taking the game into the fourth
quarter and leaving 11 minutes to play. However, Denver quickly
extinguished any comeback hopes when Tagovailoa connected with Curtis
Samuel on a 14-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 34-17. Two
completions to tight end Cade Otton gained 50 yards to set up the score.
The Giants had a chance as the fourth quarter wound down. New York added
a 49-yard Butker field goal to cut the lead to two scores and got the
ball right back when safety Julian Blackmon picked off Tagovailoa at the
Giants 11 with 6:20 left in the game. But Purdy threw a pick right to
cornerback Byron Murphy on the next play, setting up Denver at the
Giants 16. On the next play, Tagovailoa found Robinson for a 16-yard
touchdown strike, pushing the Broncos lead to 41-20 with six minutes
left.
The Giants managed another touchdown when Purdy connected with Smith
from six yards out with just over three minutes remaining to cut the
Broncos' lead to 41-27 as the Bronco defense was willing to trade
yardage for time. Still, Denver sealed the victory with a final
McPherson field goal after a failed onside kick attempt to forge the
final score at 44-27. Tagovailoa's long pass to Curtis Samuel for 44
yards to the Giants' ten-yard line set up McPherson's field goal.
The victory marked Denver's second consecutive Super Bowl win, cementing
their status as the ISFL's newest dynasty. Last year, they beat New
England by an identical 17-point margin, downing the Patriots 40-23. The
Broncos' combination of explosive offense and opportunistic defense
proved too much for a Giants team making their first Super Bowl
appearance since they won it all following the 2018 season.
Early in the contest, Denver's defense set the tone by forcing multiple
Giants turnovers, including the pivotal pick-six by Edmunds. The
defensive pressure rattled Purdy, who struggled to find rhythm in the
face of constant pressure.
Ironically, the Giants forced the first turnover when linebacker Willie
Gay picked off Tagovailoa to give the New Yorkers the ball at the Bronco
35. But the Denver defense rose to the occasion, throwing Nick Chubb for
a four-yard loss and then sacking Purdy to push the Giants out of field
goal range.
That possession foreshadowed the struggles New York would face
throughout the afternoon. After the Giants were forced to punt, Denver's
explosive 73-yard scoring play on third and three from the 27 would
change the game's complexion.
The Broncos' early offensive success built upon a foundation of quick
strikes and efficient execution, with Tagovailoa repeatedly finding open
receivers against an overwhelmed Giants secondary.
GAME NOTES: Tua Tagovailoa delivered
a masterful performance in leading Denver to victory, completing 21 of
29 passes for 339 yards and four touchdowns, posting an impressive 122.0
passer rating despite his two picks. His counterpart, Brock Purdy,
struggled with consistency, throwing for 331 yards and three touchdowns
but also throwing three interceptions while completing just 26 of 49
attempts for a 69.3 rating.
Ezekiel Elliott led the Broncos' ground game, rushing for 53 yards on
nine carries while contributing significantly in the passing game with
six receptions for 54 yards. Nick Chubb paced the Giants' rushing attack
with 44 yards on nine carries before leaving the game with an injury.
In the receiving department, Denver's offensive wealth was spread among
multiple targets, with Samuel (3 catches, 64 yards, 1 TD), Wan'Dale
Robinson (3 catches, 36 yards, 2 TDs), and Alec Pierce (1 catch, 73
yards, 1 TD) all making significant contributions. Drake London's six
receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown led the Giants, while DeVonta
Smith added eight catches for 94 yards and two scores.
Defensively, Hamilton led the Broncos with eight tackles and an
interception, while defensive linemen Derrick Brown and Osa Odighizuwa
and safety Quan Martin recorded sacks. Linebacker Zaire Franklin's nine
tackles anchored the Giants' defense, though they struggled to generate
consistent pressure on Tagovailoa, managing no sacks despite sending 46
blitzers compared to Denver's 17 blitzers.
The Broncos dominated in efficiency, averaging 6.0 yards per play
compared to the Giants' 4.7. Denver's offense was particularly effective
in the red zone, converting three of six opportunities into touchdowns
while adding three field goals. New York managed three touchdowns and
one field goal in five red zone trips.
Special teams played a crucial role, with Evan McPherson perfect on
three field goal attempts and five extra points for Denver. Harrison
Butker matched his counterpart's accuracy, converting both field goal
attempts and all three extra points for New York.
The statistical battle was closer than the final score might indicate,
with New York leading in first downs (25-18) and time of possession
(32:05 to 27:55). However, Denver's ability to generate explosive plays
and capitalize on turnovers proved decisive in this Super Bowl victory.
The game featured several untimely penalties, as New York was flagged 12
times for 78 yards compared to Denver's eight penalties for 67 yards.
The Broncos' discipline and execution in crucial moments helped secure
their second consecutive championship trophy.
