MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

The trade deadline is past and after a block of no trades at last years deadline, this year we had 19 trades and 5 free agent signings this past 2 weeks, though only 1 deal on the actual deadline day.  Now we see which contenders added enough to make the playoffs and which teams can get into that final wild card.  Right now, the Horton division is tight with just 5 points between 1st and 4th but Buffalo and St. Louis already making their golf plans.  Rangers have a 12 point lead in the Howe and 18 in the conference, with NY Islanders and Chicago in good shape for the playoffs.  New Jersey gets the second wild card on a tiebreaker with Detroit right now and then Carolina is pretty well done for the season.  In the Orr Division Dallas holds an 8 point lead on Montreal and San Jose is right behind them in 3rd.  The Lemieux has Florida with a 6 point lead on Pittsburgh and Vancouver solidly in the playoffs but no threat for much more than 3rd.  Boston and Edmonton hold the two wild card slots and Calgary is 7 points back of the final spot with LA, Colorado and Toronto at the bottom.

Block 7 is finished and the updated league file and Excel file is on the website.  Remember that all injuries this year are coaches decisions BUT all players are limited to the exact number of NHL games from last year, so plan accordingly.  If you are sending the same lineup for all 8 games then just a regular coach should work. If you want to set specific lineups for each game, then you need to use the Daily Lineups as it gives you a lot more flexibility. As soon as you have your coach set for your first 4 road games, please send that out to the list (and list who the coach is for so it is easier for teams to keep the ones they need).  Also, I would ask you PLEASE include your 4 home strats as well both for your sake and mine as if I have to sim your home games for any reason I will just let the game set up your strat if none is defined and you will have to deal with any penalties later on.  I am going to start using the strat file page and upload everyones coaches to the website like I did in the past so they are easy to find when needed.

**** IMPORTANT  - Action PC Game File Update dated 1/11/2023.

You need to send out game exports as well as boxscores for all 4 home games by the second Sunday of the block at 9 pm This is MANDATORY, both the exports AND boxscores please.   Game summaries are nice, even if it’s just one quick comment for all 4 games, just adds to the league and makes it easier for everyone to see what is going on.  If I do not receive game exports after sending updates on Saturday and Sunday, I will send one more request directly about an hour before the deadline on Sunday.  Unless I get a request for an extension of time, I will wait til the deadline and about 30 minutes later I will sim games so I can get new files out before I go to bed Sunday night.
