MESSAGE FROM
THE COMMISSIONER
The first
round is in the books and we may have seen for the first time all 8
higher seeds win their first round matchups. As predicted NY Rangers
dispatched the pesky Canes after losing game 1 at home by winning the
next 4 games but all in close fashion.
Washington takes their series by winning on home ice and then
waiting for Anaheim to falter with a total lack of offense in games 5
and 6. Philadelphia takes
their series pretty easily with Arizona taking them to OT twice on
home ice, but losing one of those which meant a quick end to the
series. Chicago wins the
first three in their series and the undermanned Isles who were
deadline sellers just had nothing left falling in 5 games.
Out West Florida loses a tight one in game 4 when Shesterkin
shuts out the Panthers, but a blowout in game 5 finishes things off
pretty quickly. Dallas
follows the pattern of winning home games and waiting for Boston to
falter on home ice which they did in game 6 when they must just 1 goal
in an elimination game.
San Jose does the same thing and Montreal’s offense is quite in the
final two games as well to fall in 6 games.
Other than a shutout win in game 4, Vancouver doesn’t muster
enough offense and falls to the Pens in 5 games.
Round 2
matchups are set, here they are and some comments on how I think the
series may go. Playoff info is below including overuse of players and
who may have to miss what during each series (I ignored anyone who
missed just 1 game, anything beyond that has penalties listed). If you
can show me where a wrong coach was used then penalties can be
rescinded.

Philadelphia
vs Washington
Chicago vs NY Rangers
These two series should
be tight fought games with whoever gets the best goaltending and then
not losing on home ice the teams who will get through. Rangers and
Blackhawks split the season series, but it is going to take a huge
effort by the Hawks to slow down the Rangers offense who scored 65
more goals in the regular season while both teams gave up an equal
number of goals.
Washington won the season series over Philadelphia, 4-2, and while
they have a slightly better defense, the Flyers scored a few more
goals and likely whoever can win that battle is going to take the
series with the defense of the Caps getting a slight edge.

Campbell Conference
San Jose vs
Dallas
Pittsburgh vs Florida
Dallas took
the season series over San Jose, 4-2, and score half a goal per game
more than the Sharks in the regular season while the defenses were
pretty closely matched. Stars offense is going to have to click on all
cylinders otherwise the Sharks will surprise them and steal this
series. Florida and
Pittsburgh split the season series though in this one the Penguins
have the much better goaltending and are going to be tough to beat.
With offenses that are similar, if the Pittsburgh goalies can
play like they did all season they will pull off the upset.
Please, double
check that are you importing each team’s coach before playing games as
it still appears to be an issue and I really hate having to redo the
files multiple times each block.

on playing games. The playoff usage rules are listed below:
PLAYOFF USAGE LIMITS FOR SKATERS:
1) 60 or more NHL games can play all playoff games (per series)
2) 55-59 NHL games
6 playoff games
3) 50-54 NHL games 5 playoff games
4) 40-49 NHL games
4 playoff games
5) 30-39 NHL games 3 playoff games
6) 20-29 NHL games
2 playoff games
7) 10-19 NHL games 1 playoff game
PLAYOFF USAGE LIMITS FOR GOALTENDERS
Goalies
with 1-14 games may only dress as backups
Goalies with 15-19 games may only start 1 game per series (but may
dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 20-24 games may only start 2 games per series (but may
dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 25-29 games may only start 3 games per series (but may
dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 30+ games may start all playoff games in a series (or may
be dressed as a backup)
