MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Round 1 is completed with one upset as Buffalo manages to win all 3 road games at Anaheim to set up a matchup with Philadelphia who handled Washington in round 1 in the Horton. In the Howe, Detroit has a tough time with the NY Rangers but win their series and NY Islanders take down New Jersey to set up their second round matchup.  In the Orr Division Dallas has no problem with Pittsburgh in 5 games and Boston keeps the games close but also falls in 5 games to Montreal for their round 2 matchup.  Florida wins a bunch of close games and Colorado actually wins one in their series and Vancouver takes Edmonton to 7 games including a 1-0 shutout to force the seventh game, but the Oilers win easily in game 7 to set up an epic battle in round 2 with the Panthers.

With the season nearing the end, it is time for those who are out of the playoffs to start thinking about the offseason.  First of all, if anyone does not plan to return, please let me know as soon as you can so we can fill our openings before the offseason begins if possible. Second we will be talking about ballot proposals soon, look for an email regarding those later today. Finally we will have the season awards voting coming soon as well. I will put that ballot together and those are want to help out are welcome to vote. Any offseason questions, now is the time to ask. Until they finish the NHL season, we will likely be on hold as to when next season can begin and how Action PC will handle it if they don’t complete the regular season.

Here are the round 2 matchups:

Prince of Wales
Philadelphia vs Buffalo

Detroit vs NY Islanders

Campbell Conference
Dallas vs Montreal

Florida vs Edmonton

There are some penalties for overuse which will apply to a playoff team, please make sure you take these into account when playing your home games:

NY Islanders – Krug, Hamhuis miss entire series
Vlasic miss game 1 and 2 of each series

Here is a quick updated on playoff usage rules for those who may need them:

       PLAYOFF USAGE LIMITS FOR SKATERS:

        1) 60 or more NHL games can play all playoff games (per series)
        2) 55-59 NHL games      6 playoff games
        3) 50-54 NHL games      5 playoff games
        4) 40-49 NHL games      4 playoff games
        5) 30-39 NHL games      3 playoff games
        6) 20-29 NHL games      2 playoff games
        7) 10-19 NHL games      1 playoff game

      PLAYOFF USAGE LIMITS FOR GOALTENDERS
Goalies with 1-14 games may only dress as backups
Goalies with 15-19 games may only start 1 game per series (but may dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 20-24 games may only start 2 games per series (but may dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 25-29 games may only start 3 games per series (but may dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 30+ games may start all playoff games in a series (or may be dressed as a backup)

Injury backups may only play if the computer pulls the starter due to an injury OR the team is down by 4 or more goals at any time in the game (a mercy rule basically). The second part may be accomplished by a computer setting for road games that is defined as a team being down by 4 or more goals OR by a home coach making this decision when his team is down by 4 or more goals.

Once a goalie has made his maximum allowable starts he must follow all rules for Injury backups as stated above.

Please guys, you have to make sure you import coaches before you are playing games. Many of you are not and those are showing up as guys are being over or underplayed. I don’t want to have to impose penalties but it isn’t fair to your opponents if you aren’t doing this one thing before playing your games. Also at a minimum you need to be adding boxscores to your game reports.  I don’t need .flm files or game exports, just the box that you save at the end of the game please.

There is a new playoff file for round 2 which you will need to download and then unzip into a new folder called RHL1920-Playoffs and then switch to that season in the game and you should be all set.  If you are sending the same lineup for all 7 games then just a regular coach should work. If you want to set specific lineups for each game, then you need to use the Daily Lineups as it gives you a lot more flexibility. As soon as you have your coach set for your road games, please send that out to the.

**** IMPORTANT  - Action PC Game File Update dated 03/06/2020.

You need to send out game exports as well as boxscores for all home games
as soon as the games are played. This is MANDATORY, both the exports
AND boxscores please.   Game summaries are nice, even if it’s just one quick
comment for all games, just adds to the league and makes it easier for
everyone to see what is going on.
