MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Round 2 went a bit more smoothly but I need teams to do a bit better job of getting games in quickly, especially with only 2 series left, we should be able to get them done in about a week or less.  Keep a close eye on usage, positions and making sure you are starting games per the email I sent out earlier tonight. Good luck to the final four and for everyone else keep an eye on the list as I am thinking of doing the draft lottery this weekend and will need some help.

Last call for the awards ballot, you can find it at the link below and please get your votes in by Sunday night!

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PF2TGDG

Also, last call for ballot proposals, just two so far, one about the draft and one about the lottery, going to put together a preliminary ballot on Wednesday night.

In the Prince of Wales Conference, Washington and St. Louis split the first four games, then St. Louis wins game 5 at home and game 6 on the road to take the series, 4 games to 2.  New Jersey and Detroit each lose a home game in the first 4, but are tied 2-2 and then Detroit wins a pair of 3-2 contests including an OT clincher in game 6 to down a game Devils squad.  Now we have a contest of the two best teams in the East with St. Louis holding home ice over Detroit for the conference finals.

In the Clarence Campbell Conference, Toronto just keeps doing what they do and steam rolls through San Jose, outscoring the Sharks 15-6 and taking the easy series win.  Edmonton/Calgary is a much tougher match up and after each team holds serve through the first 4 games, Calgary blows out the Oilers in game 5 and then win a nail biter, 2-1 to clinch the series and move on. Now Calgary will try and find an answer for the Maple Leafs who finished 17 points ahead of them in the standings despite both being division winners.

Playoff usage rules are listed below, please be sure you follow these to the letter as I will be spot checking rosters to make sure no one is using a player more than is allowed.  Play the series at your own pace but they are due by the deadline, so try and not leave it all for the final weekend.  You may send a coach for each individual game or any combination that you choose, just make sure you are clear with your opponent what you are sending (ie is it for games 1 and 2, just game 1 so you can adjust after game 2, or you can even do games 1 thru 7 all at once if you choose). Any questions on the playoffs, please let me know before proceeding so we can ensure that we are all on the same page.
