MESSAGE FROM
THE COMMISSIONER
10 games to go
and playoff positions and positioning still to be determined in the
final push to the end of the season.
Currently no one has been officially eliminated from the
playoffs but there are a bunch of teams on life support and just a few
wild card positions left to be determined.
Mostly just jockeying for position and home ice now amongst the
teams already in or just about there as shown in the breakdowns below.
In the Prince
of Wales Conference St. Louis and Washington are fighting for both the
Horton division and the top of the conference though Detroit may still
have something to say about that.
The second place team in that division will have home ice as
Philadelphia is 22 points back and can not catch either team through
they are 8 points up on Anaheim for 3rd in the division.
Detroit leads the Howe by 9 points, but both New Jersey and NY
Rangers are still in the hunt for the division as well as 2nd
and 3rd place which will come down to the divisional play
in the final block. NY
Islanders sit in the top wild card spot, up 8 points on Carolina and
Anaheim who are tied for the #2 wild card spot though Carolina
currently holds the tiebreaker.
Arizona, Buffalo and Chicago are technically alive but
realistically fighting for the #1 spot in the lottery.
Campbell
Conference is just as much of a mess with Toronto up on Dallas by 11
points in the Orr division and the only team who is comfortably in the
playoffs. Dallas is 15
points up on San Jose for 2nd place and likely will have
home ice in round 1, while the Sharks are just 1 point up on Montreal
for 3rd.
Edmonton, Florida and Calgary all sit within 2 points of each other
atop the Lemieux but they are 13 points clear of Colorado so likely
are all playoff bound at this point.
Montreal holds the top wild card, while Colorado holds a 2
point lead on Boston for wildcard #2 and Pittsburgh is within 5 points
and still alive as well.
Only Los Angeles and Vancouver are likely on the outside looking in
and in the dog fight of 5 teams fighting for the best chance at the
top lottery spot.
FYI, I will be
away during most of block 10, so while the due date is Sunday the 28th,
as long as you get games in by Monday night you will be fine as at
best I will get to them then and maybe not until Tuesday.
So now we have
Pittsburgh and Colorado left to fill, so if anyone knows of an owner
who may be interested let me know, otherwise I will continue to use
the sheet that the Donn gave me to put out a lineup for them each
block while Alex covers Pittsburgh for the rest of the year.
For this
season, Injuries will be done as coaches decisions (we may go back to
the old way next year if everyone picks up the game quickly, but will
address that later). If
you are sending the same lineup for all 8 games then just a regular
coach should work. If you want to set specific lineups for each game,
then you need to use the Daily Lineups as it gives you a lot more
flexibility.
Block 10 is
ready and the updated league file and Excel file is on the website.
Remember that all injuries this year are coaches decisions BUT
all players are limited to the exact number of NHL games from last
year, so plan accordingly.
As soon as you have your coach set for your first 5 road games, please
send that out to the list (and list who the coach is for so it is
easier for teams to keep the ones they need).
Also, I would ask you PLEASE include your 5 home strats as well
both for your sake and mine as if I have to sim your home games for
any reason I will just let the game set up your strat if none is
defined and you will have to deal with any penalties later on.
I am going to start using the
strat file page and upload everyones coaches to the website like I did
in the past so they are easy to find when needed.
**** IMPORTANT
- Action PC Game File Update dated 01/09/2019.
You
need to send out game exports as well as boxscores for all 5 home
games by the second Sunday of the block at 9 pm This is MANDATORY,
both the exports
AND boxscores please.
Game summaries are nice, even if it’s just one
quick comment for all 5 games, just adds to
the league and makes it easier for
everyone to see what is going
on.
If I do not receive game exports after
sending updates on Saturday and Sunday, I will send one more
request directly
about an hour before the deadline on Sunday.
Unless I get a request for an extension of
time, I will wait til the deadline and about 30 minutes later I
will sim games so I can get new files out before I go to bed Sunday
night.
