MESSAGE FROM
THE COMMISSIONER
In the Prince
of Wales conference a couple of 3rd place teams knocked off
the teams above them as Phoenix and NY Islanders move on to round 2.
Philadephia and Detroit both hold serve against the Wild Card
teams who win a couple but fall in the end.
So we have Phoenix starting in Philadelphia and NY Islanders in
Detroit as the division round begins.
In the Campbell
Conference Toronto rolled through Florida and San Jose takes down
Dallas for a rematch of last years Orr Division final.
Boston pulls the biggest upset of the playoffs so far as they
drop Pittsburgh in just 5 games while Edmonton holds serve against
Vancouver and earn home ice for round 2.
So San Jose is off to Toronto and Edmonton hosts Cinderella
Boston in the division finals.
Playoff files
are available on the website for Round 2 so go ahead and get them and
get games rolling. Make sure you check the playoff usage rules which I
have added below for those who may not find them in the constitution.
Any question, please let me know. Also, the following players
have usage penalties that carry over to the playoffs:
Patrick Sharp,
NYI – 1 game overused, miss game 1 of each series
Brett Pesce, PHX
– 4 games overused, miss game 1-4 of each series
Rules
Proposals can be discussed for the next few weeks, please feel free to
being up any well thought out ideas for discussion and we’ll put out a
ballot in a few weeks.

PLAYOFF USAGE LIMITS FOR SKATERS:
1) 60 or more NHL
games can play all playoff games (per series)
2) 55-59 NHL games
6 playoff games
3) 50-54 NHL games 5 playoff games
4) 40-49 NHL games
4 playoff games
5) 30-39 NHL games 3 playoff games
6) 20-29 NHL games
2 playoff games
7) 10-19 NHL games 1 playoff game
PLAYOFF USAGE LIMITS FOR
GOALTENDERS
Goalies with 1-14 games may only dress as backups
Goalies with 15-19 games may only start 1 game per series (but may
dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 20-24 games may only start 2 games per series (but may
dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 25-29 games may only start 3 games per series (but may
dress as backups in all other games)
Goalies with 30+ games may start all playoff games in a series (or may
be dressed as a backup)
