MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

And on to the playoffs we go, some interesting matchups and some that on paper look pretty one-sided, but until we play the games you just never know.  In the Prince of Wales conference Philadelphia finishes on top of the Horton and draws the #1 WC team in Chicago from the other division as the edge out Buffalo and Carolina at the end.  Phoenix will head to St. Louis to start out their series after the Blues finished strong, but the Coyotes get their coach back for the playoff, so may be a tough out.  Detroit finishes on top of the conference and they get the Buffalo Sabres who squeak into the playoffs at the last minute though they finish the last few blocks strong so will try and give the Wings a fight.  The battle of New York is the other contest in the Howe division as the Rangers get home ice against the Islanders.

In the Campbell Conference the Toronto Maple Leafs finish on top yet again and draw Florida in the most lopsided series regular season finish-wise.  Dallas struggled after many deadline trades that moved older talent, but still make it in to face San Jose who finished the season fairly strong.  Pittsburgh just missed out on the top spot in the conference and get the second wild card team in Boston.  Vancouver travels to Edmonton in what should be a good series between teams that both had their spurts throughout the regular season.

Playoff files are available on the website, please get the playoff conversion file and import that first, then import the monthly update to make sure all the matchups are set up correctly. Make sure you check the playoff usage rules which I have added below for those who may not find them in the constitution.  Any question, please let me know. Also, the following players have usage penalties that carry over to the playoffs:

Patrick Sharp, NYI – 1 game overused, miss game 1 of each series
Brett Pesce, PHX – 4 games overused, miss game 1-4 of each series
Antti Niemi, STL – 1 game overused, miss game 1 of each series
Andrew Hammond, STL – 1 game overused, miss game 2 of each series, can only start 1 game in each series
