MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

A pretty exciting finish to the season as playoff spots and positioning come down to the final day and games before anything is decided. San Jose deserves a ton of credit for capturing the Commissioner’s Cup despite only scoring 236 goals on the season well below the league leading Flyers 306 goals. It was the goaltending from San Jose that gets the job done as they allow just 183 goals, the only team under 200 in the league. The Prince of Wales conference winner came down to the difference in regulation wins as the Islanders just edge out the Flyers, 44-42, and will have home ice throughout. Similarly, the Sabres just edge out the Blackhawks, 30-28, in regulation wins to claim the final playoff spot and set up a matchup with the Isles. Playoff files are up on the website and coaches for round 1 should get out asap. Good luck to all in the playoffs!

In the Campbell Conference San Jose finishes at the top with 122 points and will get the #2 wild card in round 1. Toronto finishes well ahead of Boston and will have home ice in round 1. Vancouver wins the Lemieux going away over Florida who hold off Edmonton to have home ice in their first round matchup. Colorado is the first wild card and will take on the Canucks while Calgary easily wins the second wild card and have to solve the Sharks. Dallas locks up the #1 lottery spot with Pittsburgh, LA and Montreal #2, #3 and #5 respectively.

In the Prince of Wales Conference NY Islanders win the Howe and edge out Philly for the top spot in the conference and will get the #2 wild card in round 1. NY Rangers are just edged out by the Isles and will host #3 Detroit in round 1. Philadelphia wins the Horton in a close finish over Utah and the Mammoth will host St. Louis in round 1. New Jersey does just enough in the final block to slide into the #1 wild card spot and will head to Philly, while Buffalo and Chicago finish in a dead heat and the Sabres get the #2 wild card on the tiebreaker. Washington is the #4 team in the lottery, while Carolina is #6, then Anaheim and Chicago get the last spot.

      PLAYOFF USAGE LIMITS FOR GOALTENDERS

Injury backups may only play if the computer pulls the starter due to an injury OR the team is down by 4 or more goals at any time in the game (a mercy rule basically). The second part may be accomplished by a computer setting for road games that is defined as a team being down by 4 or more goals OR by a home coach making this decision when his team is down by 4 or more goals.

Once a goalie has made his maximum allowable starts he must follow all rules for Injury backups as stated above.

**** IMPORTANT  - Action PC Game File Update dated 03/10/2026.

You need to send out game exports as well as boxscores for all home games by the second Sunday of the block at 9 pm This is MANDATORY, both the exports AND boxscores please.   Game summaries are nice, even if it’s just one quick comment for all 4 games, just adds to the league and makes it easier for everyone to see what is going on.  If I do not receive game exports after sending updates on Saturday and Sunday, I will send one more request directly about an hour before the deadline on Sunday.  Unless I get a request for an extension of time, I will wait til the deadline and about 30 minutes later I will sim games so I can get new files out before I go to bed Sunday night.
