THE COMMISSIONER
18 games left and a lot left to decide though
much of it is just positioning in one conference. In the Prince of
Wales, St. Louis holds a 2 point lead on Arizona for the Horton
division and conference lead. NY Rangers have a big lead in the Howe,
but have a long way to go to catch St. Louis and Arizona at the top of
the conference. Philadelphia is solidly in 3rd in the
Horton while Carolina and NY Islanders are tied for second in the Howe
but New Jersey and Chicago sit within 4 points of both of them.
Anaheim is the first wild card and New Jersey the second, but Buffalo
is just one point back, Detroit 2 and Chicago a bit further 5 points
back but still in the hunt. Only Washington is done at this point and
fighting for the top lottery pick. Big blocks from the top three could
lock up playoff spots this time around. In the Campbell Conference
things are a bit different. Edmonton sits in the second wild card spot
but with a 13 point lead on Toronto and just playing .500 hockey
probably locks them into the playoffs. Dallas is 3 more points back
and then LA and Calgary are pretty much done for the season already.
Florida has a 2 point lead in the Lemieux and 6 point lead in the
conference for the top spot. Montreal leads the Orr division by just a
point over San Jose and 4 over Boston. Colorado is 4 back in the
Lemieux and Vancouver is 6 points back of them in third. Pittsburgh
holds the first wild card but is 16 points ahead of Toronto and pretty
well in the playoffs. 8 big games this block and we’ll see if anything
gets sorted out or if we are just setting up for a wild block 10.
Block 9 is
ready to go and the updated league file and Excel file is on the
website. Remember that all
injuries this year are coaches decisions BUT all players are limited
to the exact number of NHL games from last year, so plan accordingly.
If you are sending the same lineup for all 8 games then just a
regular coach should work. If you want to set specific lineups for
each game, then you need to use the Daily Lineups as it gives you a
lot more flexibility. As soon as you have your coach set for your
first 4 road games, please send that out to the list (and list who the
coach is for so it is easier for teams to keep the ones they need).
Also, I would ask you PLEASE include your 4 home strats as well
both for your sake and mine as if I have to sim your home games for
any reason I will just let the game set up your strat if none is
defined and you will have to deal with any penalties later on.
I am going to continue using
the strat file page and upload everyones coaches to the website like I
did in the past so they are easy to find when needed.
**** IMPORTANT
- Action PC Game File Update dated 10/16/2024.
You need to send out game exports as well as boxscores for all 4 home
games by the second Sunday of the block at 9 pm This is MANDATORY,
both the exports
AND boxscores please.
Game summaries are nice, even if it’s just one quick comment
for all 4 games, just adds to the league and makes it easier for
everyone to see what is going on.
If I do not receive game exports after sending updates on
Saturday and Sunday, I will send one more request directly about an
hour before the deadline on Sunday.
Unless I get a request for an extension of time, I will wait
til the deadline and about 30 minutes later I will sim games so I can
get new files out before I go to bed Sunday night.
