MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Another solid block for games being in on time, thanks as always for keeping that part of my job easy.  Playoff races are in full swing now, so good luck to all who still have an iron in the fire.  FYI I will be away the weekend that games are due at a hockey tournament for my son so won’t be back until Sunday evening, please make sure you get everything in on time.  Please, watch your usage and injuries very carefully the rest of the season and good luck!

Files are up and ready to go for block 9, please get them and get strats out by Wednesday night and if possible don’t make me chase you for them!  Another player overused this block, overall not bad, but the final 2 blocks are always the worst, so please double check your usage before putting strats out to be sure no one will be overused (it is pretty easy to do this if you just take 5 minutes).  Please keep a close eye on things, it is important guys and I hate having to dish out penalties at the end of the year when the game makes it pretty easy to track this now.

Just 18 games to go and each conference is very different in regards to the playoff races.  In the Prince of Wales the top 8 about have things sewn up as Washington sits in 9th 17 points out of a playoff spot with only 18 games to go.  Buffalo has a 9 point lead in the Horton division with Anaheim and St. Louis set up for a first round matchup right now.  In the Howe things are pretty tight with 4 teams all within 2 points of first place and even the Rangers still in the fight.  The Islanders currently hold the lead on tiebreakers with Detroit hosting New Jersey and Carolina sitting in 4th place.  The NY Rangers hold the final playoff spot and would face Buffalo if the playoffs started today.  Philly and Chicago are officially eliminated from the playoffs while Phoenix isn’t far from joining them.

In the Campbell conference things are very different with 16 points between 1st and 9th and even LA is still alive if on life support.  Toronto leads Dallas by 4 points in the Orr Division, with Dallas hosting Boston if the playoffs started today.  Vancouver leads the Lemieux by 3 points with Edmonton hosting Calgary in the 2/3 matchup.  San Jose holds the first wildcard slot and would face Toronto while Florida holds the tiebreaker on Pittsburgh for the final spot and the right to match up with Vancouver.  Montreal and Colorado are not officially out, but have a lot of work to do to stay alive.
