THE COMMISSIONER
And the regular season is now in the books
with everyone having played 82 games and some playoff positioning came
down to that final game for each team. Playoffs are up next, look for
playoff files Monday night hopefully, and we will get that rolling.
Everyone needs to stick with us for the next few weeks as I will have
awards voting coming along with some ballot discussions if anyone has
some ideas, look for that soon. For those 8 teams who didn’t make the
playoffs, the next big thing for you is the lottery which will come
before the playoffs are done. Congratulations to the 16 playoff teams,
should be some great matchups and look for more info on that in the
next newsletter which will come with the playoff files. Thanks to all
for another great regular season, lets get on to the big games now!
In the Prince
of Wales conference despite a slow start in blocks 1 and 2, the NY
Rangers end up on top of the conference and have home ice throughout
the conference finals. St. Louis pulls away in the Horton division
with a big final home block to hold the #2 seed. Arizona finishes
second in the Horton and will host Buffalo who is the #3 seed.
Philadelphia looked to be the sure #1 wild card, but stumbled in block
10 and Anaheim locks up the top wild card and a round 1 matchup with
St. Louis. Philadelphia gets the tough matchup with the NY Rangers in
round 1, while Carolina pulled away from Detroit and locked up home
ice in their first round series. NY Islanders locked up the top spot
for the lottery by a point over Toronto and Washington, Jersey and
Chicago are all in the back half of the lottery.
In the
Campbell conference Florida takes the top spot in the conference and
also wins the Commissioner’s Cup by 2 points over the Rangers for the
best record in the league at 123 points. Dallas ends up on top in the
Orr division and will face the top wild card finisher in Colorado. San
Jose edges out Montreal for home ice in their first round matchup.
Florida hosts the #2 wild card, Edmonton, in round 1 while Vancouver
finished well ahead of Pittsburgh and has home ice in their series
with the Pens in round 1. Toronto just missed out but is the #2 team
in the lottery with Boston and LA in the #3 and #4 spots respectively
while Calgary just misses the playoffs by 1 point and will be the #8
team in the lottery.
Final regular
season files are are up.
Remember that all injuries this year are coaches decisions BUT all
players are limited to the exact number of NHL games from last year,
so plan accordingly. If
you are sending the same lineup for all 8 games then just a regular
coach should work. If you want to set specific lineups for each game,
then you need to use the Daily Lineups as it gives you a lot more
flexibility. As soon as you have your coach set for your 5 road games,
please send that out to the list (and list who the coach is for so it
is easier for teams to keep the ones they need).
Also, I would ask you PLEASE include your 5 home strats as well
both for your sake and mine as if I have to sim your home games for
any reason I will just let the game set up your strat if none is
defined and you will have to deal with any penalties later on.
I am going to continue using
the strat file page and upload everyones coaches to the website like I
did in the past so they are easy to find when needed.
**** IMPORTANT
- Action PC Game File Update dated 11/14/2023.
You need to send out game exports as well as boxscores for all 4 home
games by the second Sunday of the block at 9 pm This is MANDATORY,
both the exports
AND boxscores please.
Game summaries are nice, even if it’s just one quick comment
for all 4 games, just adds to the league and makes it easier for
everyone to see what is going on.
If I do not receive game exports after sending updates on
Saturday and Sunday, I will send one more request directly
about an hour before the deadline on Sunday.
Unless I get a request for an extension of time, I will wait
til the deadline and about 30 minutes later I
will sim games so I can get new files out before I go to bed Sunday
night.
