MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
With the holidays over we get into the meat of the
schedule now and stick to a strict two week deadline the rest of the
way. Block 7 is the trade
deadline and it has been very quiet so far though I expect that will
start picking up as things move along.
We had our first overuse of the season this block, which I
guess is good that it took this long, but was hoping we might make it
through without any. Time
to start double checking your lineup and making sure that you have
your usage under wraps.
Don’t forget to check your injuries and make sure that guys miss the
correct games. Also don’t
forget to watch your goalie usage as that seems to always be a sticky
spot for us. If anyone has
any questions, let me know, otherwise grab the new files and lets get
going on strats for block 5 please.
Not too many teams are falling out of the playoff
races this early as of yet, but Detroit the top team in the Prince of
Wales by quite a bit and then there is a groupd of 6 teams all within
3 points of each other.
St. Louis holds down the final playoff spot right now but Washington
and Phoenix are alive and even Philly has a chance with a good block
or two. In the Clarence
Campbell things are a lot tighter with only 11 points between 1 and 9
and only Montreal looks to be losing the pack at this point.
Toronto is on top thanks to their high powered offense, but
Edmonton, Vancouver and Dallas are close behind with some good
goaltending and defense.
