MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

The trade deadline is now past and there were some trades this block but they came early with the final week being very quiet with nothing on deadline day. A couple of teams (Vancouver and Dallas) tuned up for the playoffs while the rest of the deals were mostly positioning for the future. We now have just 6 weeks left in the regular season, let’s stay on top of our games please and work on getting things in early. With the playoff races truly here, just a quick update on who sits where with more extensive playoff updates to come in the next newsletter. In the Horton, there are two teams at the top fighting for #1 while Philly and Vancouver fight for #3 and Anaheim sits in the final wild card spot. NY Rangers hold a big lead in the Howe, with Carolina and Detroit solidly in the playoffs and Chicago and New Jersey looking up at Anaheim for the final wild card. NY Islanders are well out of the race and Washington is just barely alive at this point. In the Campbell things are very different as the top 8 spots seem pretty well set with Colorado holding a 13 point lead for the final Wild Card spot. Dallas holds good lead in the Orr and Florida and Vancouver appear to be in a tight fight for the Lemieux. Toronto is the only team totally out of the races, but the rest would need to make a big push soon to even get close.

Block 8 files are up and ready to go.  Remember that all injuries this year are coaches decisions BUT all players are limited to the exact number of NHL games from last year, so plan accordingly.  If you are sending the same lineup for all 8 games then just a regular coach should work. If you want to set specific lineups for each game, then you need to use the Daily Lineups as it gives you a lot more flexibility. As soon as you have your coach set for your first 4 road games, please send that out to the list (and list who the coach is for so it is easier for teams to keep the ones they need).  Also, I would ask you PLEASE include your 4 home strats as well both for your sake and mine as if I have to sim your home games for any reason I will just let the game set up your strat if none is defined and you will have to deal with any penalties later on.  I am going to continue using the strat file page and upload everyones coaches to the website like I did in the past so they are easy to find when needed.

**** IMPORTANT  - Action PC Game File Update dated 11/14/2023.

You need to send out game exports as well as boxscores for all 4 home games by the second Sunday of the block at 9 pm This is MANDATORY, both the exports AND boxscores please.   Game summaries are nice, even if it’s just one quick comment for all 4 games, just adds to the league and makes it easier for everyone to see what is going on.  If I do not receive game exports after sending updates on Saturday and Sunday, I will send one more request directly about an hour before the deadline on Sunday.  Unless I get a request for an extension of time, I will wait til the deadline and about 30 minutes later I will sim games so I can get new files out before I go to bed Sunday night.
