At the ballpark the NATIONAL LEAGUE club outscored the AMERICAN LEAGUE
ballclub 8 to 5.

NATIONAL LEAGUE won the game with a rally in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on
3 hits.  Barry Bonds started the scoring when he ripping a solo home run (his
1st of the season).  After an out was recorded, Ivan Rodriguez came up and he
banged out a single.  Scott Rolen then reached on an error.  One out later,
Nomar Garciaparra stepped up to the plate and he doubled scoring the final
run of the inning.  NATIONAL LEAGUE took care of AMERICAN LEAGUE with no
trouble in the bottom of the 9th.  

Jason Schmidt(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Eric Gagne
recorded his 1st save.  Mariano Rivera(0-1) was given the loss in relief.
